Kelly played in the Storm’s loss to Wests Tigers last night and will join the Eels from Monday. Eels coach Stephen Kearney said Kelly’s arrival would add depth to his playmaking ranks. The 22-year-old from Katherine, NT, captained the Storm’s Under-20 side to a Premiership in 2009. Kearney said Kelly’s arrival was timely following season ending injuries to Casey McGuire and Jason Seage in recent weeks. “Luke’s a quality young player who has got his best football ahead of him,” Kearney said. “He’s got the all-round skills we need in his position in that he’s very good at directing traffic, has a solid kicking game and is sound defensively. “We’ve had some unfortunate injuries to some of our key options in the halves so he’s certainly a valuable addition to our squad.” |
