RUGBY LEAGUE NEWS:
Grix enjoying the Giant Life
Written by: James Brammer
February 5th 2010 02:33 PM
New Giant Scott Grix is hoping he gets the nod to make his debut in the crunch West Yorkshire Opener against the Bradford Bulls on Friday night (kick off 8.00pm).

The 25 year old Captain of Ireland had a number of options on the table when deciding where to make his next career move but admits that it was an easy decision to make once he knew of the 2009 Club of the Year’s interest:

“Towards the back end of last season, everyone could see that Huddersfield were the biggest improvers in Super League. The Man of Steel and coach of the year are here, and the Giants were also the club of the year as well so I had no doubt that this was the club to be at.”

The utility star is unsure as to where he will feature in Nathan Brown’s squad but has settled in well at the club in a tough off season schedule.

“It has been a tough pre-season but I have really enjoyed it. The bad weather hasn’t helped in our preparations but it just means everyone is fitter and ready to go.”

“It’s still in the balance where I am going to play, but wherever Nathan puts me I need to make sure I play well in that position and in training. I also need to make sure I can do that job properly. I like to get the ball in my hand so would prefer 6, 7 or 13, but wherever as long as it benefits the team.”

Grix is excited at the prospect of making his Super League debut for the Giants in their opener at the Galpharm Stadium on Friday night:

“I think I will be more nervous than the other guys because I have had to come to a new club. The game against Castleford helped us as we got some game-time under our belts and if I am selected for the Bradford game then I will be firing.”

The Galpharm Stadium Ticket Office is open Friday from 9am through to kick off selling tickets. All turnstiles will also be open on the evening. The Ticket Hotline is 0870 44 44 552.
