McKenna Bourbon, part of the Bacardi Lion portfolio, was today unveiled as the ‘official spirit’ of the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans in an agreement which will run from this season until the end of 2012. The deal continues the club’s great partnership with Bacardi Lion, which has been in place since the Jetstar Titans’ inaugural season in 2007. The agreement will see McKenna Bourbon have exclusive rights as the spirit of choice at not only Jetstar Titans home matches at Skilled Park but also the Titanium Bar in Surfers Paradise. To celebrate the announcement, Jetstar Titans front rowers Matt White and Selasi Berdie today showed off their strongman skills at training by attempting to manually tow the McKenna Bourbon truck while representative prop Luke Bailey stood watch in the back of the tray and coach John Cartwright urged the boys on from the driver’s seat. White and Berdie are vying for spots alongside Bailey in the Jetstar Titans front row this season and both are poised to be given the first chance to impress during the club’s opening trial match against the Broncos NYC outfit at Briggs Road Oval, Ipswich on Friday, February 12. Jetstar Titans Managing Director Michael Searle said the re-signing of Bacardi Lion under the McKenna Bourbon brand was a significant one. “We’ve had a great relationship with Bacardi Lion over the past three years and we’re thrilled that the partnership is set to continue,’’ said Searle. “The Jetstar Titans and McKenna Bourbon are both emerging brands which tie-in well together and we look forward to strengthening our existing relationship.’’ Bacardi Lion Managing Director Colin Rochester said he believed the branding switch to McKenna Bourbon was a great fit for the rugby league market on the Gold Coast. "We are confident the increased synergy with a great brand like McKenna Bourbon as the face of the partnership will lead to bigger and better things for both rugby league club and sponsor,’’ he said.
