RUGBY LEAGUE NEWS:
Knights take armour to Muswellbrook
Written by: Stephen Mount
February 4th 2010 02:07 PM
Muswellbrook’s next generation of league legends have the opportunity to watch their local team in action next week when the Newcastle Knights hold an open training session at Olympic Park on Saturday 13 February.

General Manager External Relations Fiona Nicholls said the Coal & Allied and Newcastle Knights Community Alliance was looking forward to visiting Muswellbrook in the first Alliance event for 2010.

“Our Community Alliance with the Newcastle Knights is off to a flying start this year and we are always looking for opportunities to bring the team to our local communities across in the Hunter region,” Ms Nicholls said.

“We’ve been visiting Muswellbrook on a regular basis for the last four years to support events such as the Black Coal Cup, Bursting with Energy Expo and of course with the popular annual Muswellbrook Blitz and Kids to Kangaroos Clinic.”

Ms Nicholls said that the Community Alliance is bringing the Knights’ top 22 players to the Upper Hunter’s Group 21 Junior Rugby League registration day to check out the potential next generation of Knights players.

“With Merriwa, Denman, Muswellbrook, Aberdeen and Scone football clubs all in town next Saturday, it is a great opportunity for these young players to meet their football heroes, many of whom started out in local clubs just like these,” Ms Nicholls said.

“Our Community Alliance trailer will also be in attendance, which is packed full of Community Alliance giveaways including Knights posters, water bottles and much more.

“We look forward to continuing our work with the Newcastle Knights to bring sustainable benefits to the region through the Community Alliance this year.”

The Community Alliance and Newcastle Knights will be at Olympic Park from 9am Saturday 13 February, and will hold a meet and greet autograph session from 10.30am.
