RUGBY LEAGUE NEWS:
Huddersfield Giants re-sign Patrick
Written by: James Brammer
February 4th 2010 05:18 AM
Engage Super League Club of the Year, Huddersfield Giants have extended the stay of up and coming utility forward Larne Patrick until the end of the 2012 season.

The 21 year old made 5 appearances in first grade last year and with a full off season under his belt Head Coach Nathan Brown is expecting more from the 102kg utility forward:

“Giving Larne this deal is fully deserved. He’s a player who has a very bright future, not just at the club but in the English Super League, and we’re delighted he’s pledged himself to us. He is without doubt someone who will play an important part in helping this club continue to go
forward.”

”He missed last pre-season and on the back of working hard his talent began to show through at the end of the year and he was putting in some very solid performances for us in Super League. This time around he’s had a terrific pre-season and there’s no question that he’s developing all the time. He has the leg speed to play out on the edge in the second row and also has the toughness to play in the middle in the front row. This makes him a valuable player to have around.”

Patrick was delighted to commit his future to the Giants.

“I’m really pleased to have signed a new contract with the Giants. I feel I have come on leaps and bounds under the coaching of Nathan, Paul Anderson and Bumper (Mark Andrews) especially having a full off-season under my belt. Pre-season has been tough but enjoyable and I am definitely much fitter than I was at this time last year. It is now down to me to continue to work hard, progress and look to establish myself in the Giants first team.”

The Giants take on the Bradford Bulls this Friday 5th February at the Galpharm Stadium in their opening game of engage Super League XV.
