The Storm cricket team will include many of the Club’s 2009 premiership winning stars, including captain Cam Smith, Billy Slater, Brett Finch and Ryan Hoffman. Smith says the boys have been talking about this game for some time as they feel they let themselves down with their performance last year. “We didn’t put on a very good show last year, but this year we’re taking it a little more seriously,” said Smith. “Some of our decisions such as our batting order were poor, so let’s just say Jeff Lima won’t be opening the batting for us this time around. “The Bulldogs played really well last year, they surprised us with how good some of their players are, but we’re ready for them this year so hopefully we can turn the tables on them.” Last year’s match saw a crowd of several thousand supporting both teams and this year should be no different with plenty of family friendly activities taking place such as a jumping castle and face painting for the kids, all free of charge. The relaxed nature of the day saw the players mingle with the fans, sign plenty of autographs, pose for photos and talk with everyone who wanted a chat. Both teams will have plenty of 2010 merchandise on sale, the Storm will be heavily promoting its 2010 membership program that will go on sale the following day, while the Bulldogs will have 2010 memberships on sale at the ground. |
